Frequently asked questions.

What can I expect from my first session?

The first session is really about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what brought you in, what's been going on, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. You don't need to have it all figured out before you come — we'll work through that together. My goal is for you to leave that first session feeling heard and a little clearer about next steps.

How do I know if I need therapy?

If something has been weighing on you — whether it's something specific that happened or just a general feeling that you're not okay — that's enough of a reason. You don't need to be in crisis to deserve support. A lot of my clients come in saying "I'm not sure if my stuff is bad enough for therapy," and the answer is almost always yes, it is.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! I am in-network with multiple insurance companies. Contact me if you would like to check your insurance. If you have a different insurance plan, I can provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

What is EMDR and how does it work?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's a research-backed therapy originally developed to treat trauma, and it works by helping your brain reprocess distressing memories that got "stuck." During EMDR, I'll guide you through recalling difficult experiences while using bilateral stimulation — usually eye movements or tapping — which helps your nervous system process those memories in a new way. It sounds a little unusual at first, but most clients are surprised by how natural it feels and how effective it is.
